Oct 02 2007 Staying with three phase regardless of the source is a good idea especially on a mill. You often have need for plug reversing the spindle which can be impossible with single phase. Russ suggestion for a rotary is good advice. Harold

Sep 05 2009 Am looking to get a vertical mill in here and I live in the boonies so getting 3 phase power out here would not be an option. I know you can use a phase converter but I have also seen some lathes where they swapped the motor to a single phase motor.
